First grown in Assam, India, Northern Burma or China, there is no real date as to when lemons were first used or cultivated. However, they have been known to be a hybrid between bitter orange and citron. It was only in Ancient Rome, around the second century AD that lemons entered Europe.
Lemon is used traditionally in tarts and pastries and its astringent flavour from both of its fresh and preserved varieties to us in meat, fish, poultry and vegetable dishes all over the world. From finding its use as a health tonic to a juice for its calming properties in warmer weather. Rich in vitamin C content, it finds its way into medicine, cooking, preparation of oils and perfumes etc.
Rock Salt can be found all over the world in inland marginal seas, dry lake beds, enclosed bays and estuaries in arid regions. Rocks Salt is also known as ‘Saindha Namak’. They are essentially rich in calcium, magnesium and potassium. It is known to promote digestion, as well as improve appetite.
