Ayurvedic texts which can be traced back to 900 B.C list Gulqand as a “Rasayana” which is Sanskrit for “tonic”; a tonic that helps in alleviating summer-specific health issues like sun-strokes, acidity, indigestion, lethargy, inflamed eyes, excessive perspiration.
